PSA Poster 1
My PSA was to encourage people to use Extra Help. Extra help is there for you to use any time you would like to get a greater understanding of a course. When you are struggling in any course Extra Help is something that you should try and go to. I find Extra Help very useful and feel people do not take full advantage of it. Which is why I chose to make my PSA about Extra Help. To make this PSA poster I decided to use a chalkboard as the background. I chose a chalkboard as the background because it symbolizes a classroom very well. I then needed to find things that I would add to my poster. One of the things I added was a student working. I found a picture of a student working by his desk and used the magnetic lasso tool to put him into the poster. I noticed when I put him in the photo he was a lot brighter than the actual background. I needed to change his brightness, which I did by selecting brightness/contrast and reducing the brightness and contrast of the student. An important part in my making my poster was determining how big or small things were going to be. This was important because I needed to use the rule of thirds in my poster. The rule of thirds is where your image is evenly spaced out having objects in the foreground, middle and background. This took me some time because I needed to change the sizes of the texts, the student and even the thought bubble. In the end I was able to use the rule of thirds quite well. In my poster you can see that student who is a little bit smaller than the texts which is why it is the foreground. Then the middle ground of my poster would be the smaller text, which is my tag line. I decreased the size of the text and bolded it, which makes it, look like it is in the middle of the poster. Finally, the background of my poster is the thought bubble and the chalkboard. My poster shows the rule of thirds effectively because it has a clear foreground, middle ground and background. Out of my two posters I feel that this one is my best because it easily conveys my message to go to Extra Help. It conveys my message well because it has a student who is stuck on his work thinking about Extra Help and when he should go to it. Extra Help is a very valuable resource at school and all students should use it even if they feel they understand what is going on in their course
